Maybe I need to stretch?
Nah…
Yesterday, after two days off since the marathon, I decided with a 50K on the horizon I needed to go for a run. 3 miles if it wasn’t working out, 5 if I was feeling good. First few blocks were incredible. I was amazed that nothing was hurting or tight, especially in the cold. And then I had to stop for traffic. The rest of the run was painful as my hamstrings remembered how tight they were. I managed 3 miles.
I know its my own fault for barely ever stretching, but the truth is after the marathon I walked around a little bit, changed my clothes and then sat down and stretched as I waited for people to finish and come find me to go home.
Later that night, while watching some Dexter, I used The Stick, a foam roller, and good old fashioned stretching. I felt like I was in a taffy factory or a meat tenderizer. It was nice.
